We are a well established, independent rural practice located in Bishops Castle, South Shropshire providing extensive veterinary services for Pets, Livestock and Horses.
Our practice has a friendly, relaxed atmosphere where you can rely on our dedicated experienced team of Vets and Nurses to offer the highest level of care for your animals.
We offer a comprehensive and competitive range of services, and provide our own emergency service at all times.

Lloyd Jones - BVSc MRCVS - Partner - Veterinary Surgeon
Having grown up only a few miles away in Snead, attending Welshpool High School, Lloyd then studied at the University of Liverpool’s Vet School.
Starting work as a mixed vet in Market Drayton and then various Locum positions, it wasn’t long before Lloyd came back close to home in Bishops Castle.
With over 30 years of work at Bishops Castle, Lloyd worked at the practice up in town on the High Street, before then building and moving into the existing practice in 1993.
Lloyd loves everything about mixed practice and when pushed, is particularly interested in herd health and fertility and small animal orthopaedics.
Outside interests include; travel, conservation and all sport (especially Rugby and Skiing).

Elliott Clifton BVSc MRCVS – Partner - Veterinary Surgeon
Elliott is Shropshire-born and has been with the team since 2016 after having graduated from Bristol University in 2015.
Having worked at a local mixed vets and an equine practice, he has now settled into mixed animal work here in Bishops Castle.
Elliott is interested in all species, especially large animals and particularly likes reproductive imaging, preventative health
and welfare, and surgery of all kinds. Outside of work, showing horses is a keen hobby as well as socialising!

Percy Allwood BVetMed MRCVS – Veterinary Surgeon
Percy has been with the practice for more than 40 years having graduated from the Royal Veterinary College, London, in 1971!
From a farming background in Cheshire, Percy then came straight to work in Shropshire and has been here ever since.
He has embraced all aspects of mixed work, in particular farm animals, but is now mostly found on our farms TB testing.

Sarah Davies BVetMed MRCVS – Veterinary Surgeon
Qualifying in 2011 from The Royal Veterinary College, Sarah returned back home to Shropshire to work as a Veterinary assistant here, where she had spend a lot of time seeing practise as a student.
She has a particular interest in Farm Animal reproduction and herd/flock health along with Small Animal soft tissue surgery and ultrasound. Sarah enjoys creating a bond with clients and their animals.
At home she enjoys spending time with her husband Nick helping on the farm with their Pedigree Hereford herd and flock of commercial sheep.
They have two young children Robbie and Pippa who also keep them busy. Sarah owns a terrier, Ted, who may accompany her on calls occasionally, he was born by caesarean at the practice!

Mary Hill – Veterinary Surgeon
Mary came to us in August 2019 having qualified from the Royal Veterinary College, London.
Mary enjoys all aspect of mixed practice especially farm animal work.
Mary grew up in Bishops Castle and so it has been great to come back and work in the area.
Outside of work Mary enjoys swimming and baking – the baking has been great for us with tasty bakes every Monday!

Megan Marshall – Veterinary Surgeon
Meg graduated from the University of Surrey in summer 2020.
Having grown up in Dorrington, Meg always wanted to come back to work in Shropshire. Meg loves the variety of mixed practice but is particularly interested in farm work.
Outside of work, spare time is spent enjoying walking (with her new dog Rosie) and wildlife.

Jess Jones – RVN
Jess qualified from Rodbaston College as a Registered Veterinary Nurse and has worked at the practice since 2010.
Jess particularly enjoys radiography and medical cases.
Outside of work Jess thoroughly enjoys outdoor activities on and around the family farm with her clan of spaniels.

Chloe Griffiths – RVN
Chloe joined the team in April 2018 and is a Registered Veterinary Nurse.
After graduating from Hartbury college in October 2017, Chloe has worked at a veterinary practice in Shrewsbury.
Chloe particularly enjoys taking care of hospitalised inpatients, anaesthesia and post-operative management.
In free time, Chloe enjoys walking her dogs Bruce and Meg and exploring the countryside. Chloe is looking forward to meeting our clients and their pets.

Jemma Morgan Practice Manager
Jemma has been a valuable member of the team since 2005.
Involved in all aspects of the practice including nursing and reception, she can often be found out on farm helping with TB testing and other on-farm procedures.
Jemma has her own flock of sheep and also manages to help out on the family farm so is pretty busy come lambing time!

Sally joined us from Matheson and Gillett as a veterinary nurse/receptionist.
She continued her training to gain her Animal Nursing Assistant qualification at Holme Lacy College.
She has a great depth of knowledge into how the practice works, knowing most of the clients and will put her hands to anything!
Her main interests are horses and in her spare time you used to find her riding her horse. More recently however, she has taken to the more sedate life, walking her dog Elan who sometimes joins her in the practice.

Kate Lloyd - Receptionist
Originally from a farming family home in Beguildy, Kate is no stranger to the farming industry and the ways of Veterinary life.
Kate has been with us over 2 years, mainly on the frontline at reception but turns her hand to other tasks as well.
Outside of work running over the Shropshire Hills, farming and her young family all keep Kate busy!

Celia Brassington
Celia has been a long-standing member of the administrative team here.
Having farmed for many years in the area, she therefore has a breadth of local farming knowledge. Celia deals with reception and organises the practice TB work.
Celia is a keen baker and so everyone enjoys a Friday when some goodies come in!

Hannah Segar – Receptionist
Hannah has been with us for over 2 years now and has been a great asset manning the phones and doing all sorts of other jobs in the practice.
When not at work, Hannah can be found riding her new motorbike, socialising or taking care of her cats A-bo and Pookey.

Sophia Anduschus - Receptionist
Sophia is originally from Berlin, Germany and came to the UK in 2019 to volunteer on a small farm for a month.
The farming life and animal husbandry was new to her but she enjoyed the work and way of life so much that she stayed on.
Working at the Vets is a great opportunity to learn more about animal health and she gets to meet and be part of the local community which she really enjoys.
